“A Smile Isn't Just Teeth” is the title of the column “Good Deeds Spark Smiles,” written by dental surgeon Felipe Rossi in this issue of Revista de Estética Dental Press.
“I wasn't born dentist; ”I became one.“ It is with this phrase that the dental surgeon Felipe Rossi begins the ”Good Deeds Awaken Smiles" session in the latest edition of Dental Press Aesthetic Magazine. Mozambique, Xingu, Kenya, Pernambuco, and Bahia are some of the planned destinations for this year.
In this edition, Rossi problematizes the overly technical and dehumanized approach that serves as the conduct for many dentists in Brazil, and states, “A smile is not just teeth.” One of the great challenges today, according to him, is to think about dentistry beyond technicalities and protocols. It is to think about dentistry in a more human and society-close way. To understand that not everything is summarized by a “before and after” published on social media.
“Dentistry cannot be the direction for a life well-lived, unless you work with smiles, and not teeth. I see a lot of people talking about Laminates and ceramic protocols, resins vs. ceramics, pure dentistry, but the act of smiling surpasses and transcends technique,” highlighted Rossi.
